4th amendment: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
just like like the second amendment doesn't only protect your right to own 1700s-era muskets, the 4th obviously isn't only referring to physical papers.
every person has a right to privacy, whether laid out in the Constitution or not, it just makes sense. just like you wouldn't want your neighbor spying on you through the window, you shouldn't like the fact that the govt can see almost everything you do daily.
as much of an anti-terrorist nationalist i am, this must be my libertarian side coming out. and the "you have nothing to fear if you have nothing to hide" argument is the biggest bullshit ever.
I'm not weird for not wanting the cia to be able to read my private texts, and I'm also not a criminal. actually, that makes the cia the criminals.
please don't turn the US into a 1984 orwellian superstate
