I am struggling with weekend marches and rallies while an all-out war is being waged on the people and our future generations. I experienced first-hand what happens when citizens stand up to the corporate state. Tear gas, mace, water cannons, concussion grenades, attack dogs, surveillance, militarized police - an absolute disregard for human life was on display in North Dakota. We must be stronger, better, accountable, and effective. Unite, yes. But divest, vote, run for office, organize locally, and disrupt the status quo also. Take it a step further than a photo op.
It was impactful to sit on a solutions-based panel of powerful women after the climate march yesterday, organized by the ever-supportive and wonderful Osprey Lake of WECAN. Women who are leading, organizing, and mobilizing the masses for the well-being of us all.
Who better to cede half my time to than Tokata Iron Eyes, the embodiment of the future. The water protectors around the country are hurting, dealing with trauma enacted from too many angles. This young woman lifts my heart and soul.
We fight for Mother Earth and those yet to come.
